BloodTrack Courier

Electronically controls and tracks the movement of blood products into and out of hospital fridges.

BloodTrack® Courier electronically captures the movements of blood and blood components throughout a hospital - improving the safety, effectiveness and reliability of the process whilst requiring only minimal training for new users. It keeps an electronic record of blood and blood components and their location history in real-time, without the need for manually recording transactions.

BloodTrack® OnDemand allows for remote release electronic issue.

Electronic issue (EI) eliminates the need for ABO and RhD incompatibility testing through computer verification. Although it has gradually been introduced as the preferred method for the provision of red cells by an increasing number of hospitals worldwide, many other hospitals are unable or unwilling to use EI because they do not have the necessary equipment or computer software.

The introduction of EI can have an impact on red cell stock management. EI can be used for issuing red cells ‘on demand’, in this case hospitals are able to further reduce their inventory level. Other hospitals have reduced their crossmatch reservation time. Studies have shown that with EI the number of crossmatches could be reduced by over 18%, the number of units issued by 10% and the number of units unreserved had fallen by nearly 35%.

The introduction of new technology such as Remote Release Electronic Crossmatch together with an active education programme can result in a significant reduction in blood usage, despite increasing activity.
